We also have the option of having a COPY of the FBI report notarized as a true copy and then have it apostille in the District of Columbia. Since this document is going to be used overseas the client needs to find out if the notarized copy will meet the legal requirements in that country. For the apostille of a notarized copy in the District of Columbia the turnaround time is only 3 business days and the cost is US$ 80 per document.
FBI Background Check Authentication & Embassy Legalization
Some countries (Egypt, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, etc.) require the FBI background check to be Authenticated by the USDOS and then certified by its embassy in Washington D.C. The authentication process is the same as the apostille. However, since it has to be legalized by the embassy of the country where it will be used, additional processing time and fees will apply.
